MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are free online courses open to everyone, allowing you to study independently at your own pace. They offer an easy way to explore various academic disciplines and current topics, as well as to acquire new skills based on research-backed knowledge. Most MOOCs are suitable for anyone interested in the subject, regardless of their educational background.
Course materials and assignments are available in an open online learning environment, typically on the DigiCampus platform shared by higher education institutions.
Some MOOCs offer credits that can be counted towards a degree, or they can be completed as Open University studies. The scope of the studies is indicated in ECTS credits: one credit corresponds to approximately 27 hours of study. If you wish to earn credits for a course, please check the course implementation and completion details, including any applicable Open University course fees. Some courses are free of charge.
Most MOOCs are in Finnish, but courses in English are also available.
