New sustainability standards for dams have become an important source of justification for the new projects but they remain highly contested. Mekong has been one of the focus regions for Finnish development cooperation. Finland has supported for example the Mekong River Commission and the Asian Development Bank. The results of Tomi Solakivi’s dissertation encourage businesses to carefully analyse the supply chain management decisions they make concerning, for example, outsourcing. “Although it is generally thought that outsourcing is good, it is best to consider the specific characteristics of the enterprise. More is not always better,” Solakivi says.
Salla-Tuulia Siivonen’s dissertation in the field of Accounting and Finance suggests that strategic changes in basic industry enterprises are posing new challenges for their accounting departments. Accounting departments are now expected to produce calculations and forecasts that provide additional value.
