The University´s project group for carbon neutrality has estimated the University´s carbon footprint for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2018, the carbon footprint was approximately 23 140 tonnes CO2 equivalent and in 2019, 21 680 tonnes CO2 equivalent. In 2020 the carbon footprint was 10,500 tCO2eq.
The University of Turku has completed an estimate of the University’s carbon footprint. The largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions are properties and travel, especially flights. In addition, the carbon footprint of laboratories and other experimental research was significant.
