Department of Museology
What makes us appreciate art or an object? How can museums benefit the society? Why and how are museum collections preserved and managed? Minoring in Museology gives you a theoretical background as well as the practical skills required to work in the museum field. These studies concentrate on how the material culture affects people, what makes us value our cultural heritage, and on other important questions in the field of cultural heritage studies.
The Department of Museology at the University of Turku are organised in collaboration with Åbo Akademi University, and the courses are taught in Finnish and Swedish.
The entrance exams for Museology are organised every year in May.
