The purpose of the Nature2100 Fund of the University of Turku is to enhance the biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and recreational value of the forests in Southern Finland for the future.

The fund primarily acquires young forests located close to existing protected areas and plans, through education and research, how these forests can best support biodiversity in the long term.

Forests can undergo measures to support biodiversity, but the ultimate goal is a diverse and old protected forest.

We are building a diverse forest ecosystem for the future while training experts in in forest-related research areas.
