Management and Organisation, Pori

Management today requires abilities and willingness to operate in a global, changing, and networked environment. In many cases, successful management of organisations requires a skill set with knowledge of management, organisation, strategic management, and human resource management. Studies in Management and Organisation offer students a possibility to gain understanding of the aforementioned themes and various questions related to them.

Management and Organisation offers a holistic perspective on management and organising in organisations which operate in the private sector, but also in the public or third sector. The programme examines organisations and organising from human, structural and societal perspectives. The theoretical foundation of the subject is multidisciplinary, and theories and concepts from psychology, sociology, and administrative and other social sciences are applied to the study of phenomena related to management and organisation.

At Management and Organisation in Pori, responsibility is emphasised as a crucial element of good management and organisation. Responsibility is reflected on the organisational level as an understanding of the organisation’s role and significance as a societal actor (e.g. organisational sociology and corporate social responsibility). On an individual level, it actualises through human connections and an understanding of the human inside an employee or a manager (human resource management and organisational behaviour).
