Annual Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Finnish 2015 Report has been published. The GEM study recognises that especially young adults have activated in early-stage entrepreneurial activity; around 5 % of them are actively involved in starting their own business, and fifth intends to become an entrepreneur in the next three years. Although the early-stage entrepreneurial activity has also slightly increased among the whole adult population, it still remains low compared to the other European Union member countries. Positive perceptions on business opportunities and high entrepreneurial potential do not turn into new businesses.

GEM is a unique survey-based study of entrepreneurship in the world covering over 60 countries. Finland has been part of the project since its beginning in 1999. In Finland, GEM research team is led by professor Anne Kovalainen. The researchers in the team are professor Jarna Heinonen, researcher Tommi Pukkinen, researcher Sanna Suomalainen, and senior researcher Pekka Stenholm. The Finnish GEM study is sponsored by the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and the School of Economics, University of Turku.
