TSE exe, the Executive Education unit at Turku School of Economics, organizes a yearly Top Management Forum. During this event, they elect the leadership trainer of the year based on feedback. This year, the winner was Peter Zettinig from the IB faculty.

Peter reflects on the award:

On a personal note, this nomination is truly meaningful to me, marking 20 years since my commitment to executive education began with a course in International Business at Victoria University of Wellington’s EMBA program.

This journey is close to my heart, keeping me connected to current business and management practices and informed about the issues organizations face. My involvement in executive education is crucial for focusing my research on significant societal issues, inspiring projects that address urgent global challenges, such as those related to health behavior, which we are currently pursuing, also with alumni who have attended EMBA and their organizations.

Peter considers himself a non-traditional teacher, in that his teaching efforts highlight the personal journey of the learner and crafting a suitably challenging learning environment. This means that Peter himself takes on a more coaching style role than a traditional teacher’s role. This allows him to appreciate the learners’ unique viewpoints and backgrounds, engaging in collaborative learning.

The three key things Peter wishes future leaders to learn from him are reflective practices, adaptive leadership, and authentic engagement. Find out more on the TSE exe blog!
