Psychology improved its position in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2022

The University of Turku has significantly improved its position in Psychology in the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2022. Psychology is now ranked 151–175th, last year 201–250th.

The annual Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2022 provides the list of the best universities in the world in eleven disciplines. The 2022 edition of the ranking compares 1,662 universities across 99 countries and regions, making it the largest and most diverse university ranking to date.

Following the recently launched THE World University Rankings 2022 where the University of Turku ranked among top 400 universities worldwide, THE World University Rankings by Subject 2022 have now been released. On 16 September, the first rankings released were health and science subject rankings – Clinical & Health, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Psychology.

Additionally, the University of Turku has experienced a deterioration of around 50-100 positions in the subject of Life Sciences (now ranked 301-400th, ranked 251-300th in 2021). The rankings of Clinical & Health (301-400th) as well as Physical Sciences (501-600th) have remained the same.

Beyond the top 100 universities, THE World University Rankings by Subject 2022 does not assign individual ranks but places institutions in rank brackets instead.

The other seven THE subject rankings for 2022 will be released on the following dates:

  • 6 October: Engineering, Computer Science
  • 13 October: Social Sciences, Business and Economics, Education, Law
  • 3 November: Arts and Humanities
