Red Light Stage of University’s Traffic Light Model for Coronavirus Situation Remains in Force

13.01.2021

The management of the University of Turku has decided that the red light stage of the traffic light model remains in force as long as the Hospital District of Southwest Finland is in the community transmission phase of the coronavirus epidemic.

The red light stage of the University’s traffic light model for the coronavirus situation means, among other things, that the use of the University’s facilities is restricted. Work and studies are conducted mainly remotely. Masks are always used in all the University's facilities.

The University’s traffic light model for the coronavirus situation can be changed to the yellow light stage once the Hospital District of Southwest Finland moves from the community transmission phase to the acceleration phase. The safety measures and related instructions for the Rauma and Pori campuses are reviewed in accordance with the regional coronavirus situations at the end of January.

Instructions and restrictions on the University’s operations have been defined in advance for each stage of the traffic light model (red, yellow, green). The instructions apply to, for example, studying, working, and using the facilities.  The University’s safety measures were set on the red light stage in December 2020.

At the University of Turku, remote teaching and studying will continue throughout the spring semester (3rd and 4th period) in accordance with the earlier policy. Contact teaching that is not possible to teach at distance can be organised in small groups while taking into account the restrictions on the number of participants.
