Visiting Professor of International and Comparative Education Marcelo Parreira Do Amaral opens the 20th anniversary year of CELE

Research Center for Lifelong Learning and Education at CELE celebrates it 20th anniversary. The anniversary year is opened on 2nd September 2021 with a lecture on Education Gone Global - The Expanding Global Education Industry by a visiting professor Marcelo Parreira do Amaral.

The lecture offers an introduction to the topic Global Education Industry (GEI) as one manifestation of the globalization of education. The talk starts with a brief discussion of the concept GEI, distinguishing it from related terms and concepts and providing some facts and figures, and some information on actors in the GEI. The lecture also deals with the factors and conditions for the rise and expansion of the GEI. A main theme of the session is related to researching the Global Education Industry and aims at deliberating on its impact to policy, practice and research of education globally.

Marcelo Parreira do Amaral is Professor of International and Comparative Education at the University of Münster and Visiting Professor at the Department of Education at the University of Turku.
The introductory words of the lecture will be given by director of Research Center for Lifelong Learning and Education at CELE, Professor Piia Seppänen.

The lecture is open to anyone interested and part of reading seminar for Doctoral Programme in Education Policy, Lifelong Learning and Comparative Educational Research KEVEKO.
