Welcome to the 2digi2 website - advice, resources and materials for teaching in the digital environment

15.01.2024

We are happy to announce the launching of the new 2digi2 website. 2digi2 has been a two-year project, 2022-2023, involving teachers and staff from 13 language centres around Finland. We have created great resources to assist teachers in navigating the rapidly changing digital teaching environment. The materials can be found in Finnish, Swedish and English and there are four main themes in the project.

The materials can be found in Finnish, Swedish and English and there are four main themes in the project.

Our students need new learning objectives for the digital age. 2digi2 gives resources to use directly in your work. We have collected a ready-to-use list of learning objectives for the digital age in three languages, gathered interviews and ideas from students about them and recorded a series of short videos with pedagogical expert Professor Minna Huotilainen who gives practical advice on student brain health.

Our students need generic skills in a digital environment. Here we have focused on four main areas: argumentation, problem-solving, self-regulation, and teamwork skills. In each section, you will find information, guidelines, materials and that help to teach your students the generic skills they need.

In the Special Needs section, you will find information and guidelines produced and collected by 2digi2 sub-group Special Needs on accommodating diverse learners and the diversity of capabilities in digital learning environments. Our guidelines are based on student and teacher surveys and teacher interviews carried out during the project, and on open-access research provided by different expert organizations. The material is presented in instructional videos in Finnish (with subtitles), and text equivalents of the videos are also provided in Finnish, Swedish, and English.

Relationship building in digital language and communication teaching, relationships are formed through various communication acts that respond to different needs. Online teaching can be based on synchronous, simultaneous interaction, or asynchronous, nonsimultaneous communication and learning. Both approaches and their combinations can yield not only learning outcomes but also meaningful relationships. In this final part of the site, you will find guidelines for building successful and meaningful relationships in a digipedagogical learning environment. The content on the site is based on surveys and interviews conducted by the project team, literature reviews, and numerous collegial and pedagogical discussions.

This website is full of the resources you need in your teaching - come and have a look!
