Time to Submit an Abstract for the NoRNet2023 Conference on Transitions, Careers and Guidance

16.02.2023

The NoRNet2023 conference on the challenges of the transition from education to working life will be held in Turku in early October. The theme of the conference is The Politics of Educational and Working Life Transitions: intersectional perspectives. Abstracts for the conference can be submitted until 30 March.

Despite longstanding efforts to actualise equality objectives in Nordic policy contexts, the educational and working life trajectories of individuals remain differentiated by their positions in intersecting schemes of social categorisation. The lingering inequalities in opportunities and outcomes call for intersectional analyses that recognise the multitude of factors and contextual characteristics that influence educational and school-to-work transitions, policies and career guidance practices. The conference is inviting researchers, practitioners and other experts to come together to analyse and discuss the micro- and macro-level phenomena that relate to educational and school-to-work transitions as well as the practices and policies facilitating these transitions.

The Keynore speakers of the conference are Shadia Rask, PhD, is a research manager at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Marcelo Parreira do Amaral, a professor of International and Comparative Education at the University of Münster and a visiting professor at the Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning and Education (CELE) at the University of Turku, Tero Järvinen, a professor of Learning and Education at the Department of Education / Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning and Education (CELE) in the University of Turku, Finland and Dr Triin Roosalu, an Estonian sociologist working at Tallinn University as an associate professor.

The conference is organised by the Department of Education and Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning and Education CELE in the University of Turku, Finland.
