The QS Sustainability Rankings 2026 assessed around 2,000 universities worldwide using indicators of sustainability and responsibility. The University of Turku was ranked 258th globally and 3rd nationally.
The QS Sustainability Rankings evaluates universities across three ESG areas: environmental impact (45%), social impact (45%), and governance (10%).
A total of 1,994 higher education institutions were included in the 2026 rankings, of which 617 are in Europe and 12 in Finland. The University of Turku’s overall position internationally and within Europe remained largely unchanged, even though the number of universities assessed increased from last year. Nationally, the University of Turku improved its ranking, placing third.
The University of Turku performed strongly in the indicators measuring social impact and governance, while environmental responsibility remains an area with potential for improvement.
