The annual Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject assesses the world’s leading universities across individual subjects. The University of Turku is ranked in ten subject areas in the latest rankings.
Among the University of Turku’s subjects, Psychology ranked among the world’s top 151–175 universities. Medical and Health, Education Studies, Social Sciences, Law, Life Sciences, and Arts and Humanities were all placed in the 251–300 range in their respective subject rankings.

THE Rankings by Subject use a range of performance indicators to assess, for example, teaching, research, research quality, as well as, with a smaller weighting, international outlook and industry collaboration. The weightings vary by subject to reflect their specific characteristics. In particular, the weightings of research-related indicators have been revised to better account for differences in research cultures and publication practices across subjects.
In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, published in October 2025, the University of Turku was ranked among the world’s top 301–350 universities. The ranking assessed approximately 2,200 institutions.
