University of Turku maintains its position in the global Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026

The University of Turku was ranked within the 301–350 range in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. The University's position remained consistent with the 2024 and 2025 ranking results. This time, the University's performance was positively influenced by research quality indicators, such as citation impact and research influence.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings assesses universities across five core pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. For the University of Turku, positive development this year was seen not only in research quality but also in the areas related to teaching and research environment. A slight decline was recorded in international outlook.

The latest Times Higher Education ranking assessed a total of 2,191 universities from 115 countries. The number of universities included in the ranking continues to grow each year, making the competition increasingly fierce. Over the past year, around one hundred more universities have been included in the ranking. The top ten positions remain firmly in the hands of universities from the United States and the United Kingdom, with the University of Oxford at the top of the list. In terms of volume, the largest numbers of universities in the ranking come from the United States, India, and Japan.
