University of Turku Received a Quality Label

The Finnish Education Evaluation Centre has conducted a re-audit of the University of Turku and has awarded the university a quality label that is valid for six years from 16 June 2017. The quality system of the University of Turku fulfils the national criteria and corresponds to the European quality assurance principles and recommendations for higher education institutions.

iCombine to Helsinki Challenge Final with Personalised Cancer Treatment

The seven finalists of the Helsinki Challenge competition have been selected. One of the finalists is a database called iCombine which enables personalised cancer treatment and involves researchers from the University of Turku.

Galaxy Alignments Traced Back Ten Billion Years

A new study led by Michael West of Lowell Observatory and Roberto De Propris of the University of Turku reveals that the most massive galaxies in the universe have been aligned with their surroundings for at least ten billion years. This discovery shows that galaxies, like people, are influenced by their environment from a young age.

Pharmaceutical Company MSD and Health Campus Turku Signed a Framework Agreement – Collaboration Strengthens Turku's Position as International Cluster of Expertise in Life Sciences

The City of Turku, Hospital District of Southwest Finland, the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University have made a framework agreement with MSD, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world. The aim is to create new operational models and modes of treatment especially for optimising the care chain, and this way participate in the social and health services reform. The agreement is very extensive, as it covers the whole health care from primary health care to special health care, academic top research and education.

QS Ranking: University of Turku among the World's Top 1 %

The University of Turku was ranked as 276th in the latest QS World University Ranking. The University of Turku was third of the Finnish universities. From the world's 26,000 universities, the University of Turku was ranked among the top one percent.
