Turku Collegium for Science and Medicine (TCSM) is a multi- and cross-disciplinary as well as interactive research platform for young top scientists.
Call for applications for the right to study for doctoral degree will open on February 3, 2015. Period for applying is February 3rd, 2015 at 8:00 – March 2nd, 2015 at 15:45.
According to the doctoral dissertation by Joni Salminen, Internet startups face several interlinked problems: the solution to one problem soon leads to another. For example, lack of user-generated content and the introduction of fees for services that were previously free of charge can cause trouble for startups. The study offers various possible solutions to challenges faced by companies.
According to the doctoral dissertation by Helena Rusanen, companies that develop service solutions should make extensive use of networks formed by companies and organizations when searching for innovation resources, such as technological products, development environments, financing, experience in a specific business field, reference customers, or special expertise.
The University of Turku organises a Ceremonial Conferment of Doctoral Degrees on 28–30 May, where 12 honorary doctors are conferred alongside with the doctors who have completed their degree in the last two years. Each of University’s seven faculties has chosen one or two persons who will be conferred as honorary doctors.

The University of Turku will confer 12 honorary doctors in May. Ten of them receive the recognition for their scientific merits and co-operation with the University. Of the prominent figures of the society, President of the Supreme Court Pauliine Koskelo and Chief of Defence, General Jarmo Lindberg will be conferred.
The Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) is a partnership of higher education institutions from the Nordic countries and southern Africa. Its primary aim is to promote multilateral research co-operation on matters of importance to the development of both regions. The University of Turku was one of the founders of the network, which currently includes 42 members.
In 2014, more doctors completed their degree than ever before – altogether 186 doctors graduated. As for the Master’s degrees, it was the second highest number in the history of the University of Turku; higher numbers were achieved only in 2008 which was the year of the degree structure reform.
