Transitional procedure concerning changes to postgraduate studies

Transitional procedure concerning changes to postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Medicine from 1.8.2020 onward

From 1.8.2020 onward, postgraduate studies included in doctoral degrees at the Faculty of Medicine will consist of General Studies, 5–15 credits, Research Method Training, 5–20 credits, and Research Field Specific Studies, 15–30 credits. These new categories will replace the previous division into General Studies, 10–20 credits, and Discipline Specific Studies, 20–30 credits. The allocation of credits (ECTS) has also changed within some categories of postgraduate studies.

Transitional procedure

All doctoral candidates who have received their study right on 1.8.2020 or later follow the 2020–2022 curriculum, even if the personal postgraduate study plan attached to their application in spring 2020 was drafted according to instructions based on the previous curriculum.

Doctoral candidates who have received their study right prior to 1.8.2020 complete their postgraduate studies according to the previous curriculum (valid until 1.8.2020). However, doctoral candidates who have received their study right prior to 1.8.2020 may choose to transition to the 2020–2022 curriculum. In such cases, the postgraduate studies included in their doctoral degree may only contain studies as defined in the 2020-2022 curriculum. In order to transition to the 2020–2022 curriculum, doctoral candidates must request the transition from the Faculty during a two-month transitional period, 1.9.2020–31.10.2020.
NB! A request to transition to the 2020–2022 curriculum in binding!
