Ashish Ganvir, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Turku, Finland, will lead research to solve the challenges of 3D printing of metals.

The MPRINT research project led by Ganvir has a total budget of €700,000, of which Business Finland's funding is €560,000. The project will be carried out at the University of Turku between 2025 and 2027.

The research will focus on 3D printing of metals. For example, researchers will investigate the feasibility of 3D metal printing in space and other extreme conditions.

In addition, the project will examine the sustainable use of materials in developing new alloys and products, while also aiming to achieve advanced real-time process monitoring and control. Researchers also aim to improve the cost-effectiveness, scalability, and environmental friendliness of 3D printing of metals.
