University of Turku maintains its position among the top 350 universities in the world

The University of Turku has maintained its position among the top 350 universities in the world in the latest Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2025. The ranking is a positive result as the competition is fiercer than before and more universities are included in the ranking.

In the latest ranking, more than 2000 universities from 115 countries were ranked by Times Higher Education (THE). Seven universities in the United States and three in the United Kingdom continue to occupy the top ten places in the rankings, with the University of Oxford topping the list.

The University of Turku succeeded in maintaining its previous ranking position (301-350), reflecting the excellent work of the University's staff and the high scientific level of the University.

THE World University Ranking focuses on five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook. For the University of Turku, the latest ranking shows positive developments in the areas of teaching and research environment. The results for international outlook also reflect improved performance.

The number of universities in the ranking has increased each year, including this year compared to last year. In particular, the number of Asian universities in the ranking has increased significantly each year. For example, there are 42 more Indian universities in this year's ranking than there were two years ago. Fast-rising Chinese universities include Tsinghua and Peking, ranked 12th and 13th respectively.
