University of Turku Retains Its Position among the Top 400 Universities in the Prestigious THE World University Rankings 2022

For five years in a row, the University of Turku has retained its position among the top 400 universities in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. More specifically, the University of Turku has ranked 351-400th in THE World University Rankings since 2018. The 2022 edition of the ranking compares 1,662 universities across 99 countries and regions, making it the largest and most diverse university ranking to date.

Overall, the University of Turku was placed in a split sixth position out of ten Finnish universities participating in the ranking (same position nationally as last year). The comparison of THE World University Rankings is based on success in the five main categories listed below.

Out of these categories, the University of Turku has been particularly successful in citations (358th) and research (359th). Teaching was ranked at the 573rd position and international outlook 557th. Industry outcome, however, was listed only at the 1083rd place. Additionally, the strengths of the University of Turku include research productivity (also referred to as publications per staff), international collaboration or co-authorship, and citation impact.
