The Finnish Doctoral Programme in Oral Sciences (FINDOS-Turku) represents all fields of Oral Sciences and brings together preclinical and clinical researchers to encourage the exchange of knowledge and ideas and to support translational Dental research.

Doctoral researchers in FINDOS-Turku have backgrounds in dentistry, medicine or other related fields (e.g. biochemistry, biology, biomaterials science) and share a common interest in Oral Sciences.

FINDOS-Turku is part of a national Doctoral training network FINDOS. FINDOS-Turku provides systematic, well supervised and high-standard doctoral training in the field of Oral Sciences. It collaborates actively with the Swedish National Clinical Research School in Dental Medicine as well as with other national and international partners.

  • Research in Biomaterials: Biomaterials science, Prosthetic Dentistry, Cariology and Restorative Dentistry
  • Research in Infectious Diseases of the Oral Cavity: HPV Research, Periodontology, Oral Microbiology & Immunology
  • Community Dentistry: Dental anxiety and fear, Oral health habits, Oral health-related quality of life
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Development and Orthodontics, Stomatognathic Physiology

FINDOS-Turku is closely connected to the research groups at the Institute of Dentistry, as well as the Turku Clinical Biomaterials Centre.
