University Science Slam Popularises and Promotes Science

Science Slams are a popular format in Central Europe for promoting scientific achievements and research subjects. In a Science Slam, researchers present their research topics as engagingly and understandably as they can within a ten-minute time limit. The University of Turku’s own Science Slam was held on 13–14 April.

Collaboration in Biosciences Increases between Turku and St. Petersburg

The close collaboration between the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University in the field of drug development is expanding. Last year, the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University initiated several research projects with the renowned St. Petersburg State Chemical-Pharmaceutical Academy. In a drug development symposium held on Tuesday 14 April, researchers from St. Petersburg were introduced to the research being conducted in Turku.

Finland University and the University of Turku Increase Co-operation with Indonesia

Finland University, including the University of Turku, and the Minister of Education and Science visited Indonesia on 18–19 March. The contracts that were made during the visit will increase transnational education and international co-operation with Indonesian universities.

​The contract between the University of Turku and Bogor Agricultural University was renewed in Indonesia.

Finnish School Education Attracts Visitors from Abroad

A delegation from the Netherlands visited the teacher training school of the University of Turku, Turun normaalikoulu, on 10 March to learn about special education, the KiVa Antibullying Program and bilingual education.

​Principals Henriet Rosman, Paula Wetselaari, Muriel van Bergen and Frans Laarakker followed the 6th graders discussion on the benefits and disadvantages of energy sources.
