In the 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the University of Turku was among the best in the world in four broad subject areas and in 13 disciplines.
In the 2021 ranking published on 3 March 2021, the University of Turku was among the world’s best in the following areas:
- Life Sciences and Medicine, ranking 225
- Arts and Humanities, 314
- Social Sciences and Management, 401–450
- Natural Sciences, 451–500
The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world’s best universities in 51 different disciplines. The University of Turku was ranked in 13 disciplines:
- Nursing, ranking 29
- Education, 101–150
- Linguistics 201–250
- Medicine, 201-250
- Psychology, 201–250
- Sociology, 201–250
- Biological Sciences, 251–300
- Business and Management Studies, 351–400
- Material Science, 351–400
- Physics and Astronomy, 351–400
- Economics and Econometrics, 401–450
- Environmental Studies, 401–450
- Chemistry, 451–500
The highest ranked discipline in its subject field was nursing which was ranked among the top in the world, at the 29th place. Education was among the best 150 (ranked 101–150). When compared to last year, new ranked disciplines from the University of Turku were linguistics and material science.
