University of Turku strengthened its position in THE World University Rankings

The University of Turku was ranked among the best 301-350 universities in the latest World University Rankings by Times Higher Education.

The ranking by Times Higher Education (THE) included a total of 1904 universities from around the world, marking an increase of approximately hundred universities from the previous year. The University of Oxford tops the ranking for the eighth year in a row.

A total of ten Finnish universities participated in the ranking this year. In this year's ranking, the University of Turku improved its position (301-350) compared to the results from the previous ranking (351-400). This reflects the hard and successful work of the University’s employees as well as the University’s high scientific standards.

THE World University Rankings is based on a methodology which includes performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. For the University of Turku, this year’s ranking highlights positive development especially in areas related to teaching and research, including funding from industry and patents. In terms of international outlook, the results of the ranking indicate a slight decline, which means that special attention should continue to be paid to promoting internationalisation.
