Know your library - Describing the doctoral candidates in the Asteri Database

All authors, who have published doctoral dissertations at the University of Turku, are entered into a National Library maintained non-public Asteri Authority Database and also into the Finnish National Bibliography. This has previously been done by the National Library of Finland, but from 2019 onwards it has become part of the Turku University Library’s responsibilities.

Universal borrowing service from National Repository Library ends

Until now, Turku University students and personnel have been able to request books from National Repository Library in Kuopio directly via Volter database. National Repository Library is changing their library system to a new one and unfortunately this will end the universal borrowing service with Turku University Library and Volter database at the end of March.

Tools for Evaluating Scholarly Publications -training

In the spring 2019 the library will arrange training in IT-rooms and webinars. After the training you will be able to find citation counts and h-index using the Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar databases. The training will also give an overview of the Impact Factors and the Publication Forum.

University of Turku’s 100th Anniversary Work Composed by Mikko Heiniö

Composer, Professor Emeritus of Musicology Mikko Heiniö has composed the anniversary work entitled Syvyyden yllä tuuli (Wind above the Depths) of the University of Turku’s centenary that will be celebrated next year. The composition will be performed for the first time at the University of Turku’s Anniversary Celebration in February 2020.

Changes in traffic arrangements and pedestrian traffic at the University Hill

The Aurum construction site and the renovation of the Main Building of University will cause changes arriving to the Feeniks Library in the spring. It is advisable to arrive to the Feeniks Library on foot along Hämeenkatu, Koskenniemenkatu or along the path between Quantum and Natura buildings. The immediate vicinity of Feeniks Library is not accessible by car.
