BioCity Symposium is approaching – register to the event at latest 11 August 2023

03.08.2023

Registration to BioCity Symposium is open until 11 August 2023. BioCity Symposium is one of the most important meetings in Turku region for researchers working in the fields of bio- and molecular medicine. This year the event is arranged with title Sculpting tissues – Cells, matrix and forces.

This two-day event starts on 24 August 2023 by listening to EMBO director Fiona Watt talking about stem cell dynamics in human skin. Some other invited speakers include professor Erik Sahai from The Francis Crick Institute, professor Christopher Chen from Harvard University, and professor Rachel Lennon from Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell-Matrix Research.

This year’s BioCity Symposium will explore the mechanisms regulating tissue architecture and homeostasis in biological organisms. The audience will learn how the reciprocal interplay between cells and their microenvironment is essential when building healthy tissues, and how dysregulation ultimately leads to disease.

BioCity Symposium is directed to researchers interested in molecular, structural and cell biology and biomedicine, as well as for clinicians working both at the academia and industry. Significant part of the audience are PhD and post doc researchers.

BioCity Symposium is arranged by BioCity Turku, which is an organization supporting and coordinating research on life sciences and molecular medicine in University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University.

The visual image of the event is based on the artwork by Sirpa Särkijärvi, Transcription 87 (Erased). For the memory of the indigenous people victimised in residential schools.

BioCity Symposium has long traditions and this year’s event is already 32nd in a row.
