The Colleague of the Year recognition aims to highlight the importance of each of us in creating a positive working environment. The 2025 award was presented at the Kipinä personnel event at Turku City Theatre on 28 October.
The Opening Ceremony was held in the University’s Main Building for the University community and friends of the University. The celebration included an opening speech from Rector Marjo Kaartinen.
The University community gathered together to kick off the academic year 2025–2026 at the Opening Carnival, which was this year organised by the Student Union of the University of Turku (TYY). The Teacher and Counsellor of the Year were announced at the Opening Carnival.
Academic year 2025–2026 has started, and those starting their studies this autumn are first to arrive on campus. At the University of Turku, the Rector welcomes new students during orientation.
Riikka Oksala, PhD, is Head of DMPK & Safety Sciences, R&D at Orion Pharma. The Alum of the Year recognition was awarded to Oksala at the Anniversary Celebration of the University of Turku on 27 February 2025.
Children were once again welcomed to participate in adults’ work day on the Children’s Day at Work on 22 November 2024.

The Opening Ceremony of the University's Academic Year 2024–2025 was celebrated at the Main Building on 3 September 2024. The Ceremony included a speech by Rector Marjo Kaartinen, who discussed the University's mission and the importance of openness, courage and passion in a multidisciplinary university community.
The University of Turku and the Student Union organised the traditional Opening Carnival for the new academic year on 3 September 2024. The Opening Carnival was held at the square between Educarium and Publicum.
