The course will help you to understand the fundamentals of idea and invention development towards commercialization and the first step in business, especially in the challenging life sciences and healthcare sectors. However, these basic lessons are applicable to any field.
You can access the MOOC learning materials according to your own schedule. Independent study is an easy and free way to acquire new knowledge based on scientific research. Studying takes place independently on the DigiCampus learning platform.
If you log in to the platform as a guest, you can access the online course materials, but completing assignments and receiving a performance mark requires registration.
For more information, see "Credits and certificate". No performance mark (certificate) is awarded for studies completed independently.
It is possible to receive a completion mark (1 credit point) for your studies by registering as an Open University student. The tuition fee is 18 euros. You can register for your studies at the Open University registration service all year round (except during the summer break). The tuition fee is paid in connection with registration in the online bank. Registration for Open University education is done in the registration service, where you can see the registration period and the duration of the right to study. After registration, you will receive login instructions for the course platform in your email. There is a delay in receiving completion instructions for those registering through the Open University (max. 12 business days) and the instructions will arrive once your registration has been processed.
Degree students at the University of Turku can complete the course for free by registering on the Peppi student desktop.
No completion mark (certificate) will be given for studies completed independently.

The study guide lists the degree programmes in which the course is included in the curriculum. Students must ensure in advance that the course can be included in the degree.
