CCR is organized in three research groups

CCR research groups

Since 2020, CCR has been organized into three research groups:

  • Disruption Lab

At the Disruption Lab we explore socio-technological change when it is beyond normal, disruptive. We research and co-create together with private and public collaborators strategies and models for facing or driving disruptive transformations. We aim at conceptualizing disruption to distinguish between normal and disruptive change, and seek methods for anticipating change trajectories and disruptions, countering negative disruptions, and driving positive disruptions. We believe that strategies founded on the assumption of environmental stability have lost their relevance, and that contemporary strategies build on adaptive or transformative mindsets. Therefore, we are also interested in the impact of individual change agency, and the role and purpose of the firm within the new economic ecosystems. Hence, our long term goal is to create and diffuse knowledge on how to harness ongoing change for making a positive impact.

  • Business Renewal

The Business Renewal –research group focuses on innovation and renewal of organizations. We research and co-design processes, models and practices for driving innovation and change in organisations and business ecosystems. Our core research themes are Innovation and change management, Business model innovation and Business Ecosystems for innovation. The research questions are typically rising from the practical challenges of the industry and we try to solve these challenges together in joint research projects. Thus, the research is a truly co-operative effort where practitioners are actively involved. We work with variety of businesses, both SMEs and large companies, coming from differing industries, such as technology, maritime and construction. Our aim is to carry out research that is relevant for the participating organisations, benefits society and contributes to scientific discussion.

  • New Ventures

We explore antecedents of innovations and factors the success and impact of new business is built on. We have special focus on co-developing commercially viable solutions rooted in academic research. Our research has two levels of interest: system level and project level. At system level, we conduct research on entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems, and commercialization process: where, why and how new ventures born and raise. At project level, we participate in the cross-disciplinary research projects tackling important research questions with economic/business and societal impact. Since we are looking for impact, we are also active in bringing our research in practice. That means, we aim at building community and solutions to support commercialization of research-based ideas and bringing ideas to the markets by participating in the commercialization projects.
