The Busy Year of the European Law Research Circle

The European Law Research Circle of the Law Faculty of the University of Turku brings together researchers of all levels of seniority to discuss current themes in EU legal research. In 2013 its seminars have included:

·         Economic and Monetary Union from the perspective of democracy (Janne Salminen)

·         The horizontal application of fundamental rights (Mira Turpeinen)

·         Åkerberg and Melloni rulings of the European Court of Justice (Jukka Snell)

·         Fundamental rights and intellectual property before the European Court of Justice (Tuomas Mylly)

·         The eurozone rescue and the integrity of the EU legal order (Jukka Snell)

·         European perspective on the corporate governance issues concerning remuneration in listed companies (Aino Ojala)

·         The Finnish Government's analysis of the eurocrisis (Jukka Snell)

·         Cease Fire! Are legislative power-struggles over? (Anna Hyvärinen)

·         Fragmentation of EU law: the case of the Unitary Patent (Tuomas Mylly)

·         Infringements of EU law before national courts: EU competition law based damages claims (Katri Havu, University of Helsinki)

For 2014, seminars are planned for example on the preliminary rulings system, and on the historical evolution of the European Parliament.
