Webinar series: Possible Future(s) of Creative Economies in post-COVID-19 Europe

CUMEDIAE and Trans Europe Halles, partners of the DISCE Consortium, are organising a webinar series (2 episodes) on the current and immediate state of creative economies in the context of COVID-19 crisis.

It is now more important than ever to focus on sustainability and inclusivity of creative economies if we want to tackle existing socio-economic challenges in the EU revealed by the COVID-19. Therefore, we want to ask everyone in the cultural and creative sectors:
● How does COVID-19 affect the creative economies in the EU?
● What should be done?
● Why and how?

We invite anyone interested to attend both webinars, which will take place on May 28th and June 4th. The discussion will bring together DISCE researchers, as well as representatives from Culture Action Europe (CAE) and IETM.

The first webinar, under the title Mapping CCIs and Working Conditions of Creative and Cultural Workforce in the EU: Before, During and After the COVID-19, will involve DISCE researchers from Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) and King's CollegeLondon (KCL) on May 28th. This first episode will focus on the definitions and characterization of the CCIs and the working conditions of the creative and cultural workforce in the EU, and the impact of COVID-19 in this context.

The second webinar, (New) Business and Revenue Models in the Creative Economies and Policies for Managing Cultural Ecology: Before, During and After the COVID-19, will be led by DISCE researchers at University of Turku (UTU) and King'sCollege London (KCL) on June 4th. This second episode will discuss definitions and characterization of the CCIs from the angle of their business and business models, and policies related to it in the light of the COVID-19 situation.

Project Framework
The DISCE project started in January 2019 and will run for a period of 3 years. Its lead coordinator is the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship within the Turku School of Economics (TSE) of the University of Turku (UTU) from Finland. The other research members of the consortium are the King's College London (KCL) from the United Kingdom, the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) from Italy, and the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) in Riga, Latvia. The consortium is completed with a Belgian based non-profit consultancy Culture and Media Agency Europe aisbl (CUMEDIAE) and the European network of non-governmental cultural centres based in Sweden Trans Europe Halles (TEH), who will together assume both the communications and stakeholder engagement within the Cultural and Creative Industries.
