The John Morton Center for North American Studies has been founded at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and Contemporary History.

 

​The national John Morton Center for North American Studies coordinates societal, academic, and entrepreneurial engagement related to the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The JMC’s activities include a research network, monthly "Current Issues" seminars, conferences, annual thematic workshops, and a blog. The Center also contributes to North American Studies education, including writing and publishing workshops for doctoral students, and provide resources for the public.  The JMC's vision is to strengthen Finnish, inter-Nordic, inter-European, and trans-Atlantic research collaboration and to become the main forum in Finland to facilitate North American Studies dialogue.
