Processing the Trauma of Displacement in Wartime Arts
War is a fundamental traumatic experience for society bringing abrupt, unexpected and unforeseen changes. Among these changes are transformations of time-space continuity and habitual materialities and symbolisms of places. In spite of its negative nature war nurtures arts and culture outbursts. This is how society and culture as self-organised complexities try to heal themselves and navigate through the trial of systematic distortion and imbalance. In this paper I am following Ukrainian wartime arts which develops on the background of the brutal war the Russian state has imposed on Ukraine.

Literature as Testimony: Forced Sterilisation and Medical Transgression in Kjell Sundstedt’s Till Gertrud (2009)
This paper explores how Kjell Sundstedt’s Till Gertrud (2009) bears witness to hidden violence and coercive practices in twentieth-century Sweden. Through a literary collage of letters, archival material, and fictionalised scenes, Sundstedt retraces his family’s experiences of institutionalisation and forced sterilisation, moving beyond conventional historiography to convey the emotional and embodied consequences of medical intervention. In doing so, Till Gertrud showcases the potential of literature as testimonial practice: one that preserves silenced experiences and opens alternative modes of remembrance.
